Gellimy Sescon started singing at an early age. She began voice lessons at age 6 in her hometown in the Philippines. She moved to Sacramento in 2010, and continued singing throughout high school and college. She recently graduated from California State University Sacramento in 2018 with a Bachelor of Music in Jazz Studies. During her undergraduate years, she sang in the award-winning Sac State Vocal Jazz ensembles. She received a 2015 DownBeat magazine student award for outstanding jazz vocalist.
Gellimy has performed at world renowned events, including the 2016 and 2017 Monterey Jazz Festival. The Sac State Vocal Jazz ensemble has appeared on local radio and TV platforms such as Good Day Sacramento and Capital Public Radio. Gellimy has also performed alongside various artists, including the internationally acclaimed vocal ensemble, the New York Voices.
Gellimy is a music director at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Auburn, California. She leads worship for church and school retreats, Catholic conferences, and other church services. She also volunteers at various Catholic young adult organizations such as Beloved Young Adult Ministry and the Newman Catholic Club at Sac State where she leads the music ministry. She has performed at local Catholic conferences such as Fired Up 2017 and On Fire NorCal Jam 2017.
Currently, Gellimy is a part time music teacher at St. John Vianney Catholic School in Rancho Cordova, CA, and Presentation of the Blessed Virgin Mary School in Sacramento, CA. She also teaches in-home voice and piano lessons in the Sacramento area.
Gellimy has a passion to teach music and to elevate a culture of authentic beauty through music and the arts.
